Jakarta: President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono received, once again, an international award. the Gold Standard Awards 2009 (TGSA), in Political Communications category. This award was given by Public Affairs Asia (PAA), an international institution located in Hongkong. This institution deeply analyses various issues which are faced by public officials and people from other professions who are interested in Asian issues. Meanwhile, the Gold Standard Awards 2009 is the first award of that institution as the acknowledgement for the achievements of companies, government, or non governmental organisation in social, governmental relation, communication and transparency.
TGSA is given for several categories, among others in government relations, public affairs, social media innovation, shareholder management, crisis communications, trade promotion, transparency, leadership and development, and sustainability.
Beside President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the Prime Minister of Thailand, Abhisit Vejajjiva, and the fund raiser for Afghanistan, Ryan Gawn were also nominated for the Gold Standard in Political Communications category. And the award went to Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The grand jury composed of high reputation people, from 40 kind of professions, such as governance, consultant, business, non governmental organisation, and trade missions.
The Executive Director of PAA, Craig Hoy, gave the award to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the other winners in a reception organized in Foreign Correspondents’ Club Hongkong. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s son, Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, accompanied by the Special Staff of the President for International Affairs, Dino Patti Djalal, received the award as the representatives of the President. Eventhough President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono could not come and received the award, the President extends his thankful by video recording displayed in the reception.
reviously, he was elected as one of the World’s Most Influential People 2009 Time 100 for Leaders and Revolutionaries category. And then, in November 2007, he also received the Democracy Award from International Associations of Political Consultants (IAPC) for his big contribution for the working of the democratic political system. In fact, a year after he was elected President, he was nominated as the candidate for Nobel Peace prize.
