Situation:


MRS Baking Distribution is the tri-state area’s leading baked goods distributor – providing a selection of more than 400 fresh bakery products to a wide variety of foodservice establishments throughout the region. As part of a program to further increase awareness about the benefits of MRS Baking Distribution for a wide variety of foodservice establishments, the company came to SmartMarketing Communications to help in the development of company branding and a publicity effort to help attract potential new customers.


Smart Solution:

As part of a multi-faceted marketing campaign, SmartMarketing Communications created a series of exciting new visual elements -- including a new logo, brochure and a variety of postcard direct mail pieces to further “brand” MRS in the marketplace. SmartMarketing Communications also helped to generate additional awareness of MRS in key markets, through a publicity campaign that resulted in cover stories in Queens Business and Total Food Service – as well as major articles in targeted business and trade media, including New York Enterprise Report and Foodservice East. BDG played a key role in expanding the MRS presence at key trade shows – helping to enhance the look and feel of the MRS booth, and identifying/securing additional trade show opportunities. As a way to directly reach key foodservice professionals and chefs about the wide variety of products and services offered by MRS, SmartMarketing Communications arranged for MRS to do demonstrations and product introductions at chefs organizations and associations. In addition, SmartMarketing Communications orchestrated the delivery of MRS baked goods to the top 50 caterers/catering halls in the region – resulting in a significant amount of new business for MRS. In addition, as a way to further increase awareness of MRS and expand into new markets, Smart Marketing Communications initiated a strategic partnership between MRS and SmartMarketing Communications longtime client The White Coffee Corporation. This partnership included a unique promotional program combining “cake and coffee” – and helped to increase product sales, and secure new clients, for each company.
